I have colonies of G. portentosa and E. chopardi and believe some of each has accidently made its way into the others bin.

What are the differing features, please? Some have lighter colours and others look too long or too wide to be that specific species, so I'd like to sort them out one way or the other.

Can/will they hybridise if left together?

Cheers! :D:D

There is no evidence that Elliptorhina and Gromphadorhina can hybridise. The 'horns' on the pronota (the plate covering the head) of adult males are very differently shaped in the two genera, so they should not be difficult to tell apart.

Cheers,

George

Hi George -

Thanks for the feedback. However, I am trying to find the difference between the two genera, as I have inadvertently mixed some of each colony into the other. Now that I wish to sort them out, I cannot differentiate between the two! Can you assist, perhaps? I have them in all stages from tiny nymphs to full grown adults... :p
